Drawing inspiration from a demon in the Chinese epic, Journey to the West, the piece is made up of a wonderfully complex bevy of female demonic creatures. Ash thinks there’s something innately fear-inducing about the unintentionally body horror found in Chinese folklore: bone demons, snake demons and spider demons.
“Fear can be a catalyst for action and while these actions can lead to personal growth, most of them lead us down paths of desperate self preservation or to terrible coping mechanisms. Fear is a tool to be wielded against yourself and others cautiously, they might not lead to the sort of growth you'd need or want.” - Ash
